Another Surgery!

Dear Friends,
We’re sure you’ll agree that sometimes it’s difficult to understand why things happen the way they do, but it’s so nice to know that God has a masterplan and we can trust Him to lead.
We had no way of knowing that 2021 would be so challenging health-wise for Nancy. If you’ve been following our story you know that Nancy had surgery for breast cancer in March while we were in Nicaragua. In May we came to Costa Rica so Nancy could have additional treatments as she was struggling with various complications from the surgery. Unbelievably, we were shocked to discover that Nancy also had thyroid cancer. On August 9th, Nancy again had surgery and we are so thankful that she is continuing to recover.
We are amazed how God touched the hearts of some dear church members in Canada who so generously allowed us to stay in their vacation home in Costa Rica. It is a beautiful home close to the beach with many peaceful places to go walking and a perfect place to recover. So even amidst the challenges we’ve been facing, God has let us know in big and small ways that he is caring for us.

Now that Nancy’s thyroid surgery is over we are looking forward to returning to Nicaragua later this month. There is so much to be done to obtain the permissions for MiracleAir but we will take it one day at a time, as Nancy’s strength increases, and know that God has gone before us to open up the way for us.
Melanie's Mission
The other reason we are eager to return to Nicaragua is that our daughter, Melanie, is there working as a student missionary. She has been assisting a local dentist who works with children in remote areas of the country. It is an amazing opportunity, but also very challenging for a young girl just out of high school. Melanie has created a blog, MelaniesMission.MiracleAir.org, where she shares her experiences and some very intriguing stories of how they are able to help the kids in these communities. Melanie’s witness as a student missionary in Nicaragua and that Steven is with us as we make plans to return to Nicaragua to continue to establish MiracleAir.

An amazingly beautiful place to stay while we have been in Costa Rica, thanks to dear supporters.

Gotta Get to Jesus
This song is another one of Nancy's favorites. Especially with all the uncertainty of the past few months as we navigated healthcare in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, it was so comforting to know that we were not alone. Jesus was always watching over her at each step and He will do the same for you! Just ask Him!
